I'm trying to get the K9 mail rcv trigger working, but it never triggers.

Any idea?

The dev of K9 mail probably have change the way the mail received event works. It maybe have changed to broadcast method. I don't use K9 mail, so can't test it. Probably you can logcat to check the broadcast intent, then use it in the trigger General Broadcast.
