Yes, backspacing in the script action is working fine for me.

Can't say it wasn't the update because it could be phone and android version related.
But when i select all text (about 50 lines) and press backspace, it leaves a whole chunk of text behind like it just plainly ignored it... plus typing is now as slow as before.

You are right. Many lines of code let the keyboard slow down significantly.

The keyboard issue is driving me crazy are there any recommended alternatives that have easy access to curly brackets?

Thanks

For longer coding sessions I'm using this app: http://www.onyxbits.de/remotekeyboard

With the help of a telnet connection (Putty) you can type using your computer keyboard. Works great with one exception: selecting and copy/paste using the computer keyboard doesn't work.

You can try hacker's keyboard. But it has been removed from playstore, don't know why. Now the one left in the playstore are fake ones. You need to download from F-droid for the apk. Set it up to 5 rows, and you can have the full keyboard view as in PC, but very small. I still have trouble adapting to it, hence I still haven't use it as the main keyboard.

Other method is using scrcpy to mirror your phone to your PC : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7313
I am typing this post from my PC thru my phone via scrcpy. But in most cases, I still prefer to type directly from my phone. Creating flow in PC always tempt me to do other things else.

Anyone else tried the new Gboard beta (Oct 22)? I haven't had time to try it much, but I have yet to see the extreme slowdowns I've experienced in the last couple of months when scripting in Automagic. Fingers crossed that the bug is fixed!

Let's hope it is. SwiftKeyboard keeps being a pain, as well as other keyboards.

Bad news... it's still there.

I also tried SwiftKey and a few other recommended keyboards, but still prefer the way how Gboard works.

A (very) temporary workaround seem to be switching to another keyboard and then back to Gboard. I have only tried it with the keyboard that comes with the password manager 1Password though. Gboard is back to being fast for a short period of time before it starts to slow down again.

I use SmartKeyboard Pro. It has arrow keys. Can't live without those.
