Cannot write on external SD (Android 6.0.1)

Post by hjs » 28 Apr 2016 19:12

Hi,

I am using Automagic on my new LG G5 running Android 6.0.1. Unfortunately Automagic is unable to create directories on the external sd card. I entered the right path but get an error message when Automagic tries to create a new directory.

FolderSync was unable to create directories on the external sd too, but it had an option to let me grant access to the sd card. I could not find anything similar in Automagic.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Concerning Foldersync there is a solution. You go to remote accounts -> Add -> Internal permissions -> browse to folder you want to access and save account under unique name.
Then make sync using this remote account on one of the sides. Unfortunatelly I have not figured out how to force Automagic to write to extSdCard.

There are a couple of Xposed modules for Kitkat, which modifies the permissions allowing to write on external SD. There could be for 5.0 and 6.0 too, but I can't be sure.

Thanks for your answers.

No, there none for 6.0, because since Android 5 apps can be granted write access. Only the apps must be able to do that.
Plus the KitKat solutions need root, which I don't have.

The next version of Automagic will support SD cards on Android 5+. The feature will be experimental and has to be turned on in the preferences of Automagic.
