Turn off screen (simulate press power button)

Is there a command that will turn off the screen, ie simulate a press of the power button?
After lots of Googling I've found a possible command of "android.intent.action.SCREEN_OFF" but not sure what action to use and where to type this or if this is even what I should be using?

Do you try the action " lock device" ?
