I second this.

For instance, Google Calendar widget doesn't properly work. I subscribe to "interesting Calendars" directly from Google Calendar - sports calendar mainly. They update correctly on the computer but not on my Nexus 5.
I have to manually clear the data of "Calendar Storage" in order for the app to re-sync.

It would be great if on rooted devices we could clear cache / and app data.

I am sure Tasker does this but I really want to stay away from tasker...

On a rooted device you can clear app data (including cache) using Execute Root Command: pm clear <package name>. Use the [...]-button to select the command and to show an app selection list.
Clearing the cache only seems to be more difficult but it should be possible to add it (also requires root). I add this to the todo-list.

The plugin Secure Settings seems to also support both actions.

Re: App Cache
I just published a flow that cleans the cache of all installed apps.
