Compile flows to separate APKs

Post by fractals » 08 Nov 2013 15:30

Would it be possible to have a functionality whereby individual flows (or sets of flows in a group that call each other and constitute a system) could be compiled to an app/APK file that would be able to work independently of Automagic as a standalone app?

Tasker has this capability with Tasker App Factory and it would be great to have something like that in Automagic too!

Thanks,

Is this going to be a possibility?

It would make this app truly amazing to be able to create an APK from the workflow.
Right now Automagic can do, in my opinion, many things that Tasker can't ?

No sorry, I have not planned to add this feature in the short term since I have already quite a long list of other features I would like to add before. I can't promise that I will be able to add it in the longer term.

Me too!

Would add a lot of value to Automagic. Could even be another app/purchase for this functionality I think ;-)

Why "without Automagic"? Sounds like "Can i run this program, which has been written for this computer, but without the computer" - I suppose a run time portion of Automagic would be required in any case, and therefore have to become part of the apk, even though maybe the user interface would be gone.

For me, this is just about having a non-editable Automagic instance as a single APK as another installable app. I could then distribute it as an App, just like any other (although requested permissions might be a bit unnecesarry).

The reason would be so that we can write cool flows for other people (like my mom-in-law) to do complicated things for them so they don't have to buy Automagic in order for us to help them. Old farts can't be convinced to spend more on a phone they already don't know how to use. lol... At least that's my reason.
