Did you have to tweak anything or did the existing flows still work on your device?
No need to tweak anything.. they work straight from stock lollipop.

It is not working for me. I used flow from the first post. The tile just doesn't appear, but the total number of tiles in settings increases. I'm using CM 12.1 nightly. I have tried rebooting and changing the tile icon.

CM internally modified the quick settings feature since they added their own API to add/remove QS tiles. I'm not aware if and how it can be controlled from Automagic at the moment.
I'll add it to the list of features under consideration to add support for this new CM API.

Did you make progress on adding support for the CM API?

Hi,

Depending on CM ROM/version, you can use trigger CyanogenMod Quick Settings Tile Selected.

Created a CM QS tile selected trigger with some label and a random picture as icon (does it require a particular size to work?), enabled the trigger.
What to do next? I don't see the QS tile in the "add tile" list.
Using CM13 ROM (Resurrection Remix 5.7.4).

The tile should become available automatically in the list of tiles. It works on a standard CM13 ROM. Maybe your ROM has removed the support for tiles added using the CM API.

Looks like you're right. Tried Custom Quick Settings and Tasker (which has this feature as well), none of them report any errors, but the tile doesn't appear in the list. I'll try to ask on the ROM's community.

Looks like RR is using AOSP Quick Settings, but there's no System Tuner to try this.
I've flashed another ROM (Beanstalk), it uses CM Quick Settings. I was able to add a quick tile using the CM Quick Settings Tile trigger.

Would you consider adding adding ability to select an installed app's icon as CM QS tile's icon? I saw that Tasker has that options, but I don't want to use Tasker.
