Backup all your flows. Uninstall Automagic and reinstall. Also delete the "Automagic folder".
And try executing the flow. See how it goes.

Re: Launch App in when automagic in background filed to work
I think the problem is related to your phone's ROM. This exact flow work fine in Stock ROM 8.1.
@Martin needs to look into it.

Re: Launch App in when automagic in background filed to work
Is Automagic notification actively showing on your statusbar?
Did you turn that off?
What phone are you using?
If you don't mind can you share the flow I just asked you to create.
Share a screenshot of log too.

Re: Wifi tethering switch
Some phones have this feature built in. But if you don't have it then check whether there is any notification on statusbar when devices are connected & disconnected. My old Samsung phone used to show how many devices are connected in notification. So if it shows 'zero' device then take advantage of ...

Re: Launch App in when automagic in background filed to work
That shouldn't happen. I just tried it and everything works fine. Try creating a flow with only these two actions. Action1: sleep 5s Action2: launch "Chrome" Manually execute the flow and press home button immediately (before 5s ends). The Chrome app should launch now. If not there is something inte...

Re: Time based triggers
If you are asking, can you do this with normal time trigger?
Then as far as I know, the answer is NO.

Re: Time based triggers
Global variable date/time is a trigger. Go check it out in "time" category. Don't use the fixed time trigger. It doesn't work if your phone is switched off. Use Global variable date/time trigger , and tick "trigger immediately on missed event". In that way the flow will work even if the phone was sw...

Re: Time based triggers
As per my first answer the question you asked in original post is answered. What additional help do you need?
Friendly reminder: don't confuse Global variable date/time with normal variables. It's a trigger available in Automagic.

Re: Time based triggers
Instead of using fixed time as trigger use Global variable date/time as trigger and tick " Trigger immediately on missed events ". In this way flow will execute when you switch on the phone. To repeat this I add a script: global_var=addDays(global_var, 7) So if you selected a Sunday in your Global v...

The swipe to remove in the above script is hit or miss in my case.
