Forum: Help Section Hand-/Printout

Post by BoBo » 31 Mar 2020 09:40

Hi Martin,
was getting kinda frustrated after failing to create a proper hand-/printout of this AM Help-Section modules ...

https://automagic4android.com/components_all_de.html (Deutsch)
https://automagic4android.com/components_all_en.html (English)

... :?

AFAICS it would be (only ;) ) up to add some CSS styles/config details to make these pages printer-friendly and probably it's worth implementing it (eg to offer a printable AM support e-book free of charge or for a reasonable price eg 00.99 €ents)??

https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/CSS/Tutorials/Print-CSS (German) - https://www.sitepoint.com/css-printer-friendly-pages/ (English)

PS. If there's anyone out there who's willing/able to do the above-mentioned conversion 'offline' you'll end up with a bunch of new fans. Promised

Thx 4 listening 8-)

I remember ever tried to print the all in one documentation to pdf. Using Chrome and print to pdf. If I remember it correctly, it takes about 4 hours to load up (I just leave it there until save dialog prompt up :D). The pdf is 10 MB.

It is useful if we want to search some certain keyword/command, but don't know where is that element. Searching thru all triggers, conditions, actions will definitely land it somewhere useful.

There's one option, printing (to pdf) separate chapters/linked pages using 'headless chrome' from the commandline. But that provides the pages as exact copies of the online pages means "white on black" - stylish look, bad to read online, useless for printouts. Interestingly, if you print out (to pdf file) manually, using Chrome's browser embedded print preview, the exact same page will print out "black on white" ...

I've downloaded & printed AM's help chapters (Triggers/Conditions/Actions) with AHK to play around eg. to upload it to my eBook-reader (Tolino) ...

Oh, that's why you also want to change the board style. If we change to prosilver style, the text are black, better for printing. But somehow I am used to current darker background style. Switching to prosilver is not comfortable, same as Automagic theme at the phone.

Well, changing the Forum's theme wasn't really bc of creating printouts, but IMHO it's healthier* and needs less power on your mobile device bc getting tiny white characters (the blue ones are even worse)) to shine out of a dark surface needs to push up the brightness level to its max (on my tablet/smartphone/NoBo/...), especially if being outside.
